Thoughts on the world

I wrote this in April 2022. It is now December. I thought it worth publishing here?

I just read a poem by Jon Roedel

that he says he wrote 8 months ago.

I don’t know whether he did or not,

But that doesn’t matter.

I am writing this because I feel I need to.

I am writing this because I hope someone will read.

I don’t know what I am about to say,

but I know that I will say something.

I have found the last few days difficult.

That is strange because it is Easter, Ramadan and the Passover.

Different beliefs are not that different.

We all take things from the same root.

Unfortunately, we take them at different times re: earths existence.

So much of our rules and beliefs are based on the past circumstance.

For people in hot countries, eating pork is an issue.

For those in other countries eating fish on Friday is essential.

This is not because of doctrine but common sense,

When else is fish fresh, except when it is landed, or pork edible, unless it is refrigerated.

All people have the right to believe.

No-one has the right to criticise that belief.

Currently, Russia, ISIS, etc. have a fear of the western ideals compared to their own beliefs.

If only they recognised that everyone desires to live in harmony.

By living in harmony, we all benefit.

Love thy neighbour, accept those that are seeking asylum, sanction those that are creating oppression.   But relax that sanction when oppression is relaxed.  Because sanction is the only way to ensure the oppressor can understand.

But people move to a position of comfort.  Provide some comfort, for them and ourselves.

Compromise is not the answer.  Persuasion and trust in each other is the way forward and this only can be achieved by perceived actions on both sides.

How do people in this world find issues with others?
