The cabinet and bank benchers appear to be disappointed in Boris because of a number of issues.
It started with the reporting of a party at No 10 before Christmas 2020 when the rules were supposed to be against that. ‘The Party’ was ‘announced’ at a mock press conference as a result of a mock question and, I suspect a mock answer!
The tory back benchers decided to rebel against the Government by not supporting additional measures intended to prevent the spread of the Covid virus, despite scientific evidence that it was likely to be spread.
Now Lord Frost, the Brexit Minister has resigned, apparently over the direction the Government are taking regarding Covid.
An argument the backbenchers and ‘anti-measures’ group is using is the impact on the economy, as further restrictions will slow down spending.
The debate is not about the economy, although that is one of the casualties of this virus. If nothing is done the NHS and the emergency services will become overwhelmed by the demand on the NHS and the lack of resources because of Covid. This will result in food and goods not being distributed, imported and exported and have a negative effect on the economy. If the Government go into full lock down, then businesses will suffer and this too will impact on the economy.
I am more concerned that things are done that protect the NHS and then when I am seriously ill, not through Covid, there maybe someone who can do something for me.
Keep apart and stay safe.
