During Lockdown I have been working with a group of people that attended, with me, a ‘Mindfulness For Health’, eight week course. This started before ‘Lockdown’ in March 2020 and, because of Lockdown transferred from a Saturday morning group session to a Saturday morning Zoom session, thanks to those that were leading it, Annie of the Mindful Soul Co and Karen Jobson.
As a result of our 8 week course together, Karen decided to run some QiGung sessions on Zoom. These are open to anyone that wanted to take part. I took part, along with several others on the course, and subsequently, others have also shown interest.
So a small group of us have stayed in contact. Meeting on Zoom with Karen, who has provided a ChiGung practice session.
I have practiced ChiGung and Tai Chi (‘Infinite Tai Chi’) for many years. So Karen enticed me to run one of the groups, which I did today.
I set up a Zoom meeting and linked with Claire, Karen, Rachel and Margaret. Carole decided that walking in Weardale was a better option, so, although normally present, was not with us today. Most of us are local to each other, but Karen is in Hong Kong, currently!
We spent about an hour with myself leading some ChiGung practice, starting with a salutation followed by a mix of warm up ChiGung moves and then moving into the ‘8 Ribbons of the Brocade’ (with variations?!). Finally we ended with a short series of healing sounds and a final ‘salutations’.
I think everyone enjoyed it? I did and came away feeling relaxed, meditated and ready for the day ahead.
(I have spelt QiGung two different ways in this piece. I don’t think that matters, it is the activity and essence of QiGung that matters, whether it is spelt QiGung, QiGong, ChiGung or ChiGong or as two separate words)
