I am suddenly concerned about the impact this situation may be having on people. I get the sense that some, if not many, of mu contacts on social media are feeling the stress, anxiety, angst that the current rules and regulations are having. There appears, to me, to be a proportion of the population that feel it is obligatory to abide by the rules that are written down and hence follow the word of the law.
In this country. UK. I always understood that the rules followed the spirit of the law. In other countries, the word of the law was mandatory
As such, the premise in the UK, I believe, is to not do anything that will result in the spread of the infection such that the numbers of people requiring NHS treatment will overload the NHS. This has resulted in advice to keep ones distance from others so that the rate of infection of individuals does not exceed the rate at which the NHS can treat them.
People are getting very anxious about this and, as a result, suffering mentally because they feel that contracting the virus must be avoided at all costs, and they are seeing things happen that contravene this belief.
As one that suffers from depression, and takes medication as a result, I can understand the dilemma they are in.
We must change are beliefs and recognise that the social distancing advice/regulations are designed to minimise the rate of infection and not to stop the infection, per se. Although, those of us with underlying medical issues may be more concerned than others.
