I am an amateur photographer with an eclectic portfolio of photographs.
I tend to use Canon equipment, but I started with film photography, 35mm, before transferring to digital. I have three digital camera bodies at present, two with a 1.6 cropped sensor and a ‘full frame’. I also have an antique film camera, medium format, that I occasionally use. It is a Zeis Ikon, fully mechanical camera.
My Photography started many years ago and I used to develop Black&White, analogue snaps with my father. Some years ago I took a night class and attained an ‘O’ Level in Black and White Photography, studying not just the composition and taking of pictures, but also the techniques used in the darkroom.
This has proved beneficial in my move to digital photography and is the basis for the digital development of my photographs.
I like to think my photographs create an emotion in the viewer. Although some photographs can be classed as ‘Documentary’, that is, generally, not my original intention.
My capabilities have grown as a result of viewing other photographer’s work. I subscribe to a number of on-line Photographic Sites and I am a member of a local society, Saltburn Photographic Society.
Being retired, I can devote more time to my hobbies and interests which include Photography and Bird Watching. I was a Chemical Engineer and still keep an interest in mixing, mass transfer and filtration. This may come out in some of the Blogs that I post.
During my professional career, I operated as a limited company, Rinegate Limited. Hence this is where the name for my web presence has stemmed.
